Abstract Painting

THE RECYCLED SERIES

As far as I’m aware, this medium is the first of its kind. Working with quality oil pastels is expensive, so I began wondering if I could strip back the works I'd rejected with a palate knife in a bid to reuse the pigment in some way. The process produced some extremely intricate pastel ribbons, each with an inherent sense of form and movement. I catalogued these ribbons and applied them to primed canvas - letting each piece dictate its own character wherever possible. It was an utterly fascinating process.
